Ignite Camp 2020 - That Camp That Wasn't
2020 was not our favorite year, and hopefully it will retain the title of worst year for a little while.
In the midst of all that our church youth group began planning our 2020 Ignite Camp in late 2019. By early 2020 we solidified a few things, including a logo, the scripting of several social media commercials, a step-and-repeat banner, bracelets and stickers. Everything was produced except for the stickers, because Ignite Camp 2020 was canceled.
The difficult decision to cancel camp came a month or so before camp was scheduled to happen. They debated hybrid camp, camp at church in Indiana rather than traveling to our usual destination of Grace Adventures in Michigan and a virtual camp. It was all scrapped and that allowed us to take a step back and set our eyes to 2021 for a bigger and better camp.
Like I said, a few things were made and ready to go before 2020 ruined things.
The theme and logo was determined early on, as it always is before all the other pieces come into play. We went with ‘Vision’ for a few reasons, including the fact that 2020 invoked the thought of sight, 2020 vision, perspective. So we went with ‘Vision’ and from there I took the theme and played around with it.
I think the colors were sharp, the logo was solid and it could have been a neat visual used on all the elements including recap videos and “Station Night”, but alas, Ignite 2020 was just a fleeting dream. Thankfully Ignite 2021 was a GO.
